Vonnie passed away peacefully at home after a long and spiritually filled life on Sunday, September 9, 2018. A strong, independent, loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all, ""Mema"" was an amazing, God loving, and inspirational woman. The lives of those she met will be forever changed because of her graciousness, devotion, love, encouragement and the ability to always find the positive aspects of every situation. ""Mema"" will remain in our hearts forever. She was 98, a native of New Roads, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge for 77 years. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St. at 11:00 am until Mass at 12:30 pm on Friday, September 14 by Father Matthew McCaughey and Father Miles Walsh. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by two daughters Martha Hayes, Gallatin, TN and Margaret ""Meg"" Long and son-in-law Steve Long, Baton Rouge; daughter-in-law Allaine Morrell, six grandchildren, Sherry Petrelli, Phoenix, AR, Joseph Clifton ""Joey"" Morrell III, Pascagoula, MS, Austin and Ashley Hayes, both of Gallatin, TN, and Matt and Kate Long of Baton Rouge. Nine great-grandchildren, Joey, Nicole and Lauren Petrelli, Joseph Clifton ""Joey"" Morrell, IV, Hannah Sherman, Jayden Morrell, Adyson, Hayden and Logan Hadley. Vonnie was the beloved daughter of Eleanor Patin and Joseph Lubin Langlois. Preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph ""Clifton"" Morrell, Sr, two sons, Joseph Clifton ""Joey"" Morrell, Jr and an infant son; siblings, Genevieve Harmon, Milton Langlois, Lester Langlois, Gussie Langlois, Lubin Langlois and Bootsie Langlois. Our family is sincerely grateful for family and friends who provided such loving care to Mema, especially Karen Dake, Coty Shepard, Allaine Morrell, William ""Buck"" Long and In His Hands Hospice. Your visits, prayers and acts of kindness meant so much to all of us. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, LA and St. Joseph's Academy, Baton Rouge.
