William (Billy) Curtis Vickry of Greenwell Springs, LA., departed this earth at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and walked into the arms of our Lord the afternoon of January 10, 2019. Billy was born June 20, 1931 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School in 1950. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and retired from the American Institute of Timber Construction as the Director of the Inspection Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Wayne and Mary Vickry, his brother Earl Wayne Vickry and his wife Deloris, and nephew Earl Wayne Vickry Jr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Cobb Vickry, sons William Bradley, Gary Curtis, and Wade Byron. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Melissa Dedon and Rylee Vickry, four grandsons, Matthew, Ryan, Jordan and Will Vickry, and (3) great grandchildren. Billy thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, gardening, traveling, and working on anything that needed fixing. He liked spending time with his family and friends and helping anyone that needed a hand. He also loved watching sports, especially the LSU Tigers. He was an active member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and of the Blackwater Men's Club. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Vickry, Gary Vickry, Wade Vickry, Matthew Vickry, Ryan Vickry, Jordan Vickry, and Will Vickry. Arrangements are as follows: Visitation is Wednesday, January 16th at 10 AM-11AM. Funeral Services begin at 11 AM followed by Fellowship at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Rd. Baker, LA 70714.
