Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Winnie Marie Lee, age 78, the former Winnie Marie Michel, who passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Grace Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Jay Miller of The Family Church will officiate at the services. Mrs. Lee was a native of Bayou Pigeon and a resident of Carencro for over twenty-five years. Winnie worked in the food and beverage industry for most of her life. She loved pleasing people and making people laugh. She had great love for her daughter and grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, William "Bill" "Tony" Lee of Carencro; one daughter, Michelle LaCoste and her spouse Phyllis of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hebert Richard and her husband Heath of Lafayette, and Kristopher Hebert and his fiancée Noel Smith of Crowley; three great-grandchildren, Greyson Richard, Jaxsun Hebert and Brooklynn Hebert; two brothers, Donald Michel and his wife Geneva of Pierre Part, and Jimmie Michel and his wife Harriet of Bayou Pigeon; her godchildren, Leonard Simoneaux Jr., and Tammy Simoneaux; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elphage Joseph Michel Sr. and the former Nellie Daigle; an infant grandson, Anthony Paul Hebert; one brother, Elphage "E.J." Michel; and three sisters, Mercedes Simoneaux, Betty Simoneaux and Rita Mae Fortin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Visitation will continue Monday, January 15, 2018, at Wilbert Funeral Home (24120 Railroad Ave. Plaquemine, La.) from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Kristopher Hebert, Heath Richard, Leonard Simoneaux, Jr., Terry Simoneaux, Clifford Simoneaux and Lind Michel.
