Born in Rayville to humble beginnings, Billy was raised by Ruth and Vernon Boles to be the best he could be at everything he did. He excelled at academics, athletics, business and life. He attended Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe, on a basketball scholarship, served 18 months in the U.S. Navy, attended Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, and earned his law degree from LSU. He served as a state senator, built a successful law practice, co-founded First Fidelity Mortgage Co., now Chase, and co-founded several banks, including American Bank, now Regions. Billy received many awards attesting to his success, but he was mostly proud of his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Furlow Boles; and four children and their spouses, George and Linda Boles Campbell, Walter and Diane Boles Kirtland, Scott and Janet Boles Crawford and Christine and William Russell Boles Jr. His 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren adored their "BeBe." His presence in our lives will be greatly missed and we are honored to have shared in his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) Foundation.
