Charles Franklin Obituary

A U.S. Army veteran, he died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Assumption Community Hospital. He was 89, a native of Belle Rose and a resident of Klotzville. Visiting at Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Napoleonville, on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visiting at St. James United Methodist Church in Belle Rose on Saturday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Elva Jacobs. Burial in First Israel Baptist Church Cemetery in Belle Rose. He is survived by three sons and their spouses, Charles Michael and Sandra Franklin, of Marrero, Carl and Iva Franklin, of Belle Rose, and Ulysses and Althea Franklin, of Donaldsonville; a daughter, Era Williams, of LaPlace; two brothers, George Pearley, of San Diego, and Ointon P. Landry, of Belle Rose; and three sisters, Albertha Holly, of Napoleonville, and Marie Robins and Elizabeth Chavis. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Franklin; parents, Camille and Rachel Franklin; two daughters, Louella Solomon and Carolyn Franklin; three brothers, Haywood and Camille Franklin Jr. and James Pearley Sr.; and two sisters, Mildred Labat and Ella Mae Anderson.
