Dwight Spencer Hutchinson, a resident of Bayou Barbary for 25 years and a native of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 25, 2011. He was 60, born Aug. 16, 1950. Visitation at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bayou Barbary, 21949 La, 444, Livingston, on Monday, Feb. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church on Tuesday, March 1, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Paul Taylor and the Rev. Kevin LeBoeuf. Burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathy R. Hutchinson; a stepdaughter, Peggy R. Varnado; son-in-law, Jack Varnado; stepson, Clark Robertson; two grandchildren, Madelynn and Jacob Varnado, all of Bayou Barbary; sister, Janice Balfantz, of Springfield; a half sister, Duffy Hutchinson, of Sarasota, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded In death by his mother, Effie Wall Hutchinson; father, Carl Hutchinson; and sister, Margaret Hebert. Dwight was an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church of Bayou Barbary. He was employed by Shell Oil Motiva in Convent. Pallbearers will be Hank Hebert, T.J. Hebert, Danny Lavigne, Jason Simeon, Bobby Harper and Ty Guitreau. Honorary pallbearers are members of Pine Grove Baptist Church Sunday morning men's prayer group.
