A retired warehouse supervisor for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, he died of leukemia at 7 p.m., April 22, 2012 at M.D. Anderson Hospital. He was 59, a native of New Orleans and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at New Gideon Baptist Church on Saturday April 28, 2012 from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Geoffrey O. Sykes, Pastor. Interment at Southern Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Reed; mother, Fannie Lorraine Reed; son, Derek Reed; stepson, Dedrian Hogan; sister, Kathleen Reed-Parms; brothers, Haywood C. Reed and Stanley W. Reed; and grandchildren, Dasia Tolbert, Phillip Reed, and Hannah Reed. Preceded in death by his father, Ivy L. Reed, Sr.; sister, Rita R. Hurst; maternal grandparents, Elvin Sr. and Winnie Gray; and nephew, Kirkland D. Parms.
