There is not a single day I don't hear your voice. Conversations of encouragement and what not to do are impressed in my mind and heart. I must admit the Detroit Jazz Festival & Arts Eats & Beat were not the same this year without you. You were truly a good friend. One I will keep close in my heart forever. You are missed my friend. Hard to believe you are not here. I am so glad our paths met. Sorry I could never make a good pot of rice Lol! As always, Peace Out my Brotha, my friend….

Ivan was my First Cousin. I was a little girl when we moved from Baton Rouge to Miami and I didn't know my Cousin well, but in the last few years he reached out to me by telephone and I was totally captured by his kind, loving and gentle Spirit. He ABSOLUTELY loved his family, it was beautiful. He shared family stories and we laughed and laughed. He also have me great LIFE advice. I am saddened that my Cousin has passed, but I'm so grateful that so many of you have shared your hearts and given me insight as to the depth of goodness Ivan possessed.....Thank you. It brings such comfort to know Ivan loved and feared God. It brings such comfort to know he is now with his Mother, our Grand Mother, my Brother and countless Family Members that have welcomed him home.

Ivan's unwavering dedication to call and visit his family members was an admirable and beautiful thing. I am thankful for his allegiance to Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. I will forever cherish the long conversations we had and how he'd have me rolling with laughter over his zany jokes and spontaneous quips. We were best friends, as well as cousins, at Harding Elementary, and we never lost contact with one another; for that I'm grateful. I can still hear his voice saying, "And as always, Cuz, peace out." He never failed to let those be his last words when we spoke. Well, indeed, it's "peace out," Cousin Ivan. You are now eternally in the presence of the Prince of Peace, Jesus; I anticipate seeing you there. Lonnie and Tiny, remain strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Trust God for all that you have need of, and rest assured, He is sovereign.

Love and prayers for my entire family,
