Ralph Raynald Piper, Sr., age 89, resident of Gonzales, LA passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 10:30am. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA, was retired from Ormet Corp, and was a veteran of the US Navy. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from 12:00pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Jerry Martin and burial will be in Prairieville Cemetery. Mr. Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary H. Piper; one daughter, Cheryl Frederic & husband Thomas of The Woodlands, TX; two sons, Ralph Piper, Jr. & wife Sandra of Gonzales, LA, and Patrick Piper of Duplessis, LA; granddaughters & spouses, Monique Morris & husband Daniel, Meredith Bourdousquie & husband John; grandsons & their spouses, Cory Piper & wife April, Brady Piper & wife Erica, James Piper, and Jesse Piper & wife Angie; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ronald Marchand of Gonzales, LA, Donald & Jerry Piper of Baton Rouge, LA, and sister, Claire Miller of Baton Rouge. LA. He is preceded in death by his mother Lelia A. Marchand; father, Ralph H. Piper; and brother, Thomas Marchand. He was a member of American Legion Post #81, Baton Rouge and the VFW Post #3693. My thoughts are with the family as they say goodbye to Mr Ralph. I knew of him for only a short time while living a couple of doors down from him and Mrs Mary. I remember him as being very kind and helpful; especially with Gravely tractors and carpentry.
