Mayola Jackson Tanner was born August 26, 1927 in Greensburg, LA. She passed away peacefully on June 22, 2017 in hospice care at Baton Rouge General surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister in law, aunt and friend who lived her life to the fullest and was a great joy to those who were blessed to have known her. She leaves to cherish her memories, Ten (10) loving children, Enola (Rev. Elijah) Harvey, Marvin (Ora Lee) Tanner and Lathin (Lillian) Tanner, Evelyn (Willie) Morgan, Othel (Arnell) Tanner, Greensburg, LA; Mearn Ray Tanner, Myrtle (Fritz) Hurst, Vereta T. Lee, Emma Tanner, Baton Rouge, LA and Edward Tanner, Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Inez Jackson, Greensburg, LA, Mae Ella West, Baton Rouge, LA and Gladys Doughty, Detroit, MI; one sister in law, Thelma Jackson, Greensburg, LA; (40) grandchildren, (57) great grandchildren, (12) great great grandchildren, one niece, Hazel T. Gotch, one nephew, James R. Tanner, several devoted cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mearn Tanner, parents, Alton and Myrtle Jackson, one sister, Iola Matthews, one brother, Alfred Jackson, two sisters in law, Olevia Jackson and Iona Pitts, four brothers in law, Rev. B. W. West, Charlie Matthews, Jerome Doughty, Sr. and Lemard Jackson, one son in law, Melvin Lee and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Jackson Chapel I. M. E. Church on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at 77 Jackson Chapel Road, Greensburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM: Saturday, July 1, 2017 by Rev. Elijah Harvey, Jr. Interment will follow at Tanner Family Cemetery. The arrangements will be entrusted to MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, 87 Paddio Johnson Lane, Greensburg, LA 70441
