Dear Honee,
I think about you everyday. You are a role model for me. It has almost been 6 years since you have passed, but I remember you as if I was with you right now. Me and My mom recently put new flowers on your grave. I hope you like them. So much has happened since you left us. I went to the regional spelling bee last week and the math olympics. I really miss you and I love you. I'll see you in the Rapture.

Happy 71st Birthday. Today will always be a special day in my memory. It is your birthday and the date of your funeral. That is SPECIAL. I think of you often and reflect back on the good and bad times we spent together. I cherish those times we spent together at Opelousas Areal Vocational School. We were like sisters and could share our deepest secrets. You will always have a special place in my heart as long as I live. Rest in Peace and may the God of all Peace be with you. I miss my friend.

Happy 68th Birthday Momma!
Happy Birthday Momma Flo!
Happy Birthday Honee!

As we write to you, we are listening to the DVD and all the good things that your friends and loved ones said at your funeral. It is comforting to see, listen and reflect on all that was said and done a year ago today. It doesn't seem like you've been gone for a year. Your presence is all over my house so you are always near me. I miss you, but I think of you everyday and talk to you often in my own special way. Nathaniel talks about you all the time too. He says that there are two of you, one in the grave and one in heaven. He loves having you as his Guardian Angel and is looking forward to a great time when we all are together again when Jesus comes. I could write forever to tell you how much I love you and miss you and about all that is going on with us, but I must go now. God sent me a song that comforts my soul regularly. It was released shortly after your death. It says, "I smile and I thank the Lord for blessing me with you. You're in a better place and again I'll see your face. And I thank the Lord for blessing me with you. Although my heart is sad, I know we'll meet again." I truly thank God for you!

I have sent you a birthday greeting in the Baton Rouge newspaper today for all to see: Your Legacy Lives On In Me. You will never ever be forgotten by me or many others.

Loving you always,
Your daughter, son #3 and grandson:
Nicole, Kelvin and Nathaniel

You and your family are in my prayers. I cannot imagine what you are feeling at this time. However, as I reflect on the tragedies that affected my family last year, it reminds me that each day on earth is a blessing from God and that we should live our lives according to His plan. We may ask why, but through prayer and fellowship with friends, we begin to realize there was a reason. Your mother is not present in body, but she is present in your spirit. Her absence from earth is your preparation to receive the many blessings God has in store for you.

Sincerely and with love,
Geneasa Elias

To the Reams and McGhee Family;

Mrs. McGhee was one of my favorite teachers and I felt I was one of her favorite students. We have shared many moments since my graduation from Lee High School in 1979. We were both active in the alumni and avid SU football fans.
She really touched my heart. Her passing has really been a blow to me. Although we had not seen each other as often in the past 10 years, I remember fondly.
God answers prayers and he truly must have felt that it was time for this stalwart angel to return to him.

May God's blessings be upon you.

May you cherish her memories and keep your faith in God. Keep your mind steadfast on Him and He will keep you in perfect peace. As you may know Ms McGhee was like my second mom. She played a very important part in my life, coordinated my wedding as well as the baptism services of my son Xavier. When I was ill she came out to visit me in Arizona and we spent hours talking and sharing with each other. I will always remember her kindness, love, and strong personality. She will be greatly missed.

To the McGhee Family. I had wanted to do something special to commemorate Florence's life and our long-time friendship. Today I decided to sponsor this Guest Book online on a permanent basis. In this way friends and family will be able to send messages whenever they desire and especially on special occasions. My prayers are with you all as you adjust to Florence's homegoing. Florence was a beautiful person and expressed her love for each of you all of the time. Remember that Florence wanted the best for each of you and so do I. Keep in close contact with each other and help each other through difficult times. You know how to contact me if I can be of assistance. I love you all. May God Bless and keep you.

The Zion City Community Development Cooperation will forever cherish Mrs. McGhee's love and service given to Zion City and other communities.
We know that one of God's precious "GEMS" has been returned to him. Now, Mrs. McGhee is a "Guardian Angel" watching over all of us.

I pray God's covering over you all during this time. Remember: He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalms 91:1). Nicole & Family,

Love is a beautiful thing. Your mother has left behind a legacy of love that will never pass away. Her love has impacted countless numbers of students, colleagues and friends across this country. Her compassion and caring has influenced and continues to inspire men and women to be better and dream bigger than they ever imagined. It is now being handed down from generation to generation. This is the legacy that resides inside of each of you. This is a legacy that shall never pass…Know that our God is infinitely great and will never leave you.

Troy, Kevin & Nicole:

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. During this difficult time, may God grant you His peace and His heavenly grace. Growing up, we were all like brothers and sisters. We shared a lot of special times together and those thoughts make me smile even today. Our most joyous times were spent in and around the church and your mom was always near. She was a strong and passionate woman. Serving in numerous position inside and outside the church, she touched many lives, often doing jobs that many would not do. You could always count on her to make sure things were taken care of and no matter what she did, she put her all into it. Cherish all of the good times you shared with her, her smile, and her vigor. Those memories will help you heal. Remember, we are here for you when you need us.

Ms. McGhee was one of my favorite teachers at Lee High. I had her for General Business, and she was my FBLA sponsor from 1982-1985. I remember fondly our field trip to Nashville my senior year and was reminiscing about it with her at our class reunion recently. It was so great seeing her there!

I send my sincere sympathy to the McGhee family. May it comfort you to know how she inspired so many students. I have been teaching for 12 years now myself!

To Nicole & The McGhee Family,

I met Mrs. McGhee in 1984 at Lee High School. She was the teacher advisor of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). For me, she was very inspiring and served as a mentor. She helped give me confidence that I could become whatever I wanted in life if I trusted in God, worked hard and kept the faith.

I appreciate everything she did for me. We've kept in touch over the years and I will miss her dearly.

Nicole, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. GOD BLESS!
