William Felton Ellis, Jr. passed away on Monday, February 1st at Our Lake of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Bill was born in Metter, Georgia on October 18th, 1930, the beloved son of the late William Felton Ellis, Sr. and Della Riggs Ellis. He is survived by Virginia, his loving wife of seventy years and his son William (Susan). He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen and great-grandson Samuel. Bill will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Kelly Nelson, Ginny Nelson-Johnson (Kenneth), Barry Nelson, Jr. (Leah), Christopher Nelson (Emilie) and Sarah Ellis; and by his six great-grand children Abram Zydonyk, Kaili Nelson, Grace Johnson, Wiley Nelson, Everett Nelson and Jake Nelson. Bill worked in the Chemical Industry throughout the south for 46 years. His hard work and dedication were an inspiration to all who knew and worked with him. After his retirement in 1996 he was able to indulge in his love of cooking and traveling with his wife. As a 12-year member of the Georgia National Guard, Bill rose to the rank of Sergeant Major, and was chosen to carry the colors for the state of Georgia at the dedication of the National Guard Memorial in Washington DC in 1959. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the doctors and staff at Our Lady of the Lake who were such a comfort during his last days.
