Middleton Jr., Willie Beverly An attorney and past president and chairman of the board at Citizens Bank and Trust Co. for more than 50 years, he died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 92 and a resident and native of Plaquemine. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine was on Thursday, April 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine was on Friday, April 27, from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. Entombment in Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by three sons, William Beverly Middleton III, Edward Barker Middleton and wife Susanne Clouatre Middleton, and Michael Poynter Middleton and wife Janet Miller Middleton; seven grandchildren, Michelle Middleton Griffith, wife of William Nicholas Griffith Jr., Nancy Middleton Theriot, wife of Ted David Theriot, Caroline Poynter Middleton, Susan Middleton Lewis, wife of H. Brooks Lewis, Edward Barker Middleton Jr., Michael Poynter Middleton II, husband of Meghan O'Neill Middleton, and William Hopkins Middleton; 13 great-grandchildren, Ann Gordon Blanchard, William David Blanchard Jr., Michael Sevier Blanchard, John Andrew Blanchard, Mariah Caroline Blanchard, Zachary Middleton Griffith, Kendall Elizabeth Theriot, Mia Catherine Theriot, Charles Poynter Middleton, Brooks O'Keefe Lewis, Olivia Creighton Middleton, Edward Steele Lewis and Anna Catherine Lewis; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Erin Nicole, Haley Davis, William Nicholas III and Josie Brenna Griffith. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Gordon Barker Middleton; great-grandchild, William Brooks Lewis; parents, Willie Beverly Middleton and Maria Poynter Schwing Middleton; paternal grandparents, Arthur Overton Middleton and Mary Susannah Barnes Middleton; maternal grandparents, Dr. Sebastian D. Schwing and Maria T.D. Poynter Schwing; and sister, Carolyn Middleton Allen Posey. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, grandsons-in-law and nephew, Dr. William Dean Allen. He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. He received his undergraduate and law degree from LSU. He was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1940-1948. He was also past secretary-treasurer of PAR. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 57805 Main St., Plaquemine, LA 70764 or a charity of choice.

Mr. Bill will indeed be missed. He was a true southern gentleman. I knew him for 40 years and always admired his loyalty, integrity, love for his family and his general demeanor. I am honored to have had him in my life and my children's lives as their beloved Paw Paw.
