Linda Newman, 66, of Folsom, Louisiana passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family after a two year battle with breast cancer. She was born March 25, 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Joel Dennis and Sue Williamson. Linda moved numerous times in her early years. Her family moved to Louisiana where she attended school and graduated from Glen Oaks High School in 1972. She then graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She started her teaching career at Covington High School where she taught History. Linda then took time off from teaching to raise her ten children. After several years of homeschooling her own children, she went back to teaching and taught at Folsom Jr. High. Linda then taught at the St. Tammany Parish Alternative School, Project Team West, until her retirement on December 23, 2020. Linda met her husband, Richard, briefly in Jr. High and then again in High School. They began dating in 1970 and were married on June 21, 1975. Linda and Richard were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 8, 1982. Throughout Linda's life she held many roles. She not only was an amazing mother and teacher but was also a business owner, soccer coach, Girl Scout leader, and a dedicated member of her church. Linda opened a t-shirt store in a small portable building which then grew to two other locations. She is one of the founding members of the Mandeville Soccer Club where she was a League Director, Club Uniform Director, and coached numerous teams. Throughout the years, she had many responsibilities at church some of which included being in the Stake Young Women's Presidency, Camp Director, Teacher, Librarian, Stake Seminary Director, and Relief Society Homemaking Coordinator. Throughout Linda's teaching career she taught Home Economics, History, and Special Education. On top of raising her children, she often held many other roles at one time and never once complained. She has a heart of gold and more patience than most. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Joel Dennis and Sue Williamson, and her brother, Joey Williamson. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Richard Newman. Their children Richard Newman II (Lyndsay), William Newman (Ashley), Rebekah Getscher (Michael), Tiffany James (Rusty), Amanda Storrs (Josh), Andrew Newman (Lynsi), Amber Cote (Nathan), Amelia Theiss (Justin), Melinda Ashby (Kevin), and Mariah Newman. Linda was the most loving kind person ever put on Earth. Her dedication and integrity in any endeavor she took on was carried out to perfection. She loved her family so much and raised a wonderful family. The world will be a lessor place. She was so helpful in everything she did for the Mandeville Soccer Club I will ever be grateful. God's speed Linda. RIP. My family's deepest sympathy and condolences to Richard and all the family.
