Raphael Roy Obituary

Raphael W. Roy, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Lexington, South Carolina at the age of 82. He was the son of Raphael W. Roy, Sr. and Hazel A. Roy. Ray is survived by daughter Karen R. Padgett, sons Eric Roy and David L. Roy; sisters Margaret R. Gremillion (Ernest), Sybil R. Jaeger, Olivia R. LeRay; brother Michael A. Roy (Gail) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Denise R. Shaw, daughter-in-law Melissa Roy, grandchildren Asher, Alyssa, and Christopher Roy and brother Rhett G. Roy. Ray Graduated from Catholic High School and attended LSU. Ray was one of three original organizers that worked to start the St. George Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Ray finished his career in medical and hospital supplies business as an owner and officer of Crescent Surgical Supply in New Orleans. He studied and shared his faith through Bible Study classes with friends in Harahan, LA and Lexington, S.C. Celebration of Ray's life will be held in Lexington and Baton Rouge at a later date.
