Barbara (James) Hernandez, resident of Gonzales, passed away at 11:50 pm on Tuesday, November 23rd at the much-too-young age of 73 after a long battle with brain cancer. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father Clyde James, mother Loney (Mire) James, and brother Robert James. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Sidney Hernandez; son Darrin (Jill) Babin; daughter Tara (Chris) Chapman; daughter Mellie (Jason) Hebert; stepson David (Tawny) Hernandez; stepdaughter Tina (Geoff) Jago; Grandchildren Kristen (Josh) DiBenedetto, Shanna (Wyatt) Jones, Lily Dugas (Michael Connelly), Ben Jago, Elliot Dugas, Mia Jago, Nathan Babin, Brooke Babin, Scarlett Jago, Taylor Hernandez, and Zane Hernandez; Great-grandchildren Nolan DiBenedetto, Lola DiBenedetto, and Delilah Jones. She was a positive light to all who crossed her path and will be remembered for her kind and generous heart. A memorial service will be announced at some point in the future. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

I am so sorry for your loss! Mrs. Barbara will always have a special place in my heart and I am so happy to have had such a wonderful and sweet person in my life for almost 15 years! She was such a kind soul and her impact on this world and us as individuals won't be forgotten!! May you rest in peace in our Father's arms Mrs. Barbara! I will miss you until I meet you again in heaven!

Sending you guys my deepest condolences. Even after more than 40 years, we all called Aunt Gob "Aunt" because she never felt like anything other than that even tho we would go years without seeing her. That´s a testament of her kind soul. She will be greatly missed!!

So sorry for your loss. I know she is in heaven dancing and rejoicing . I hope you know how special so was to all of us that worked the fair, she was a sweetheart.
