Bill G. Barber went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Landmark South Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, at the age of 88. He is a native of Heber Springs, Arkansas and resident of Port Allen. Bill was a US Army Veteran. He was a retired railroad switchman from Union Pacific. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Wednesday, May 19th, from 10 a.m. until time of religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. Michael Hebert. Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Park. Bill is survived by his daughter, Lynne "Danae" Barber Fayard and husband Kenneth of Jerusalem, Arkansas; son, James Jackson Barber and wife Rebecca of Greenwell Springs, brother-in-law, Pete Carraway of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Braedon Grafton Fayard, Chandler Jackson Fayard, Laramie Walker Fayard and Jadon Jackson Barber; and nieces and nephew. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Chester "CJ" and Ruby Wisdom Barber; sisters, Norma Barber Bare and husband Ivan and Carolyn Barber Cooley Carraway and husband Ronald. Pallbearers will be the four grandsons and James Joseph Cooley and William Gouldin.
