On September 25, 2021, Florida "Granny" White, a native of Melville, LA passed away at her home in Baton Rouge with her family at her bedside, at age 97. She accepted Christ at an early age. She later became a member of Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She leaves her celebrated life to her eight surviving children, Diana, Delores, Debra, Lodie, Kim, Doris, Darryl, and Phillip along with a host of grand, great-grand, great-great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Mansel White, five siblings, and seven children, Bobby Jean Sanders, Anna Jacob, Herman White, Lela Mae Washington, Donald Ray White, Herbert White, and Jacqueline White. Religious Services will be held at Winnfield Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. The family of Florida White acknowledges with sincere appreciation the comforting expressions offered through prayers, florals, cards, conversation, and other acts of kindness during our time of bereavement. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge for the patients and professionalism shown while caring for our mother.
