Freddie "Juman" Smith entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 15, 2021. Freddie was born on December 26, 1945, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Freddie Smith, Sr., and Estelle Packnett Smith. He was the oldest of seven children. At the age of 12, he was baptized at the Church of God in Christ in New Orleans, LA. When the family moved to Baton Rouge, Freddie attended public schools and graduated from McKinley High School in 1963. He was active in all sports at McKinley, but his passion was baseball. In 1967, he earned a degree in Recreation from THE Grambling State University. Freddie led a very full life and remained active in sports as a member of several softball teams in Baton Rouge. He was a long-time employee of ExxonMobil, serving as a supervisor in the Exxon Research and Development Lab. He participated n the Exxon sponsored sports of basketball and softball. He led the "Resids" softball team to several championships before retiring to try his hand at entrepreneurship. He owned the Destination II Sports Bar, and he traveled frequently with The Finest, a band he managed. Then, industry lured him back to the labs at Ciba Geigy and Huntsman Chemicals, before he retired again in 2007. This time to enjoy fishing and spending time with family and friends. Always a loving father, Freddie's marriage to Patricia Haynes on May 15, 1987, increased his fatherly duties from four to six. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Patricia, and children: Michael Smith, Sheryl Randall, Cynthia Smith, and Jason Smith (Lisa) and Sheri and Carey Lyons, all of Baton Rouge. He will also be missed by siblings, Antoinette Collins, Loretta Bowers, Tyrone Smith (Sandra), Demetra Louis (Raymond), and Rene Smith, all of Baton Rouge, 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister who died at birth, his brother, Felix, and a grandchild, Mykelle Smith. May our fond memories sustain us always. JUMAN will be missed. Family and Friends, we share this prayer: FATHER, thank YOU for another day. We know not what this day will bring but we know that YOU are in charge. FATHER, we know that as sure as we live we must die. Help us to live guided by YOUR word, prepare us for our date and ease the pain of our transition. YOU have all power in YOUR hands and we plead for YOUR grace and mercy. FATHER, give grace and mercy to bereaved families and friends. Heal the hurt in their hearts. Give them the strength to persevere and be their comfort in their hours of need. Turn them to YOUR light so that they may know that YOU will never leave them. Help them to live firmly planted in YOUR word. YOU are our light and salvation and we thank YOU in all things. All praise belongs to YOU. HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, praise YOUR holy name. In the mighty name of JESUS, Amen.

BROKEN.... The first day i sat with you, you didnt say one word we sat in silence and watched a game. I did say "squeeze my hand Daddy, if you know i love you" and you were sqeezing my hand real firm. The last time i sat with you again we sat in silence and watched a game. I looked over to check on you and then in your raspy fading voice you said "I love you Sheryl". I turned my head bc i didnt want you to see me cry, but guess what Daddy.. I LOVE YOU MORE! I Love You DADDY
