Gary Wayne Smelley, age 68, of Clinton, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, after a tragic accident at his home. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Laurel Lampton Smelley, two children, Jade (Brian) Babineaux, and Marshall (Kathryn) Smelley, three grandchildren, Hannah, Madelyn, and Jace Babineaux, brother "Buster" (Sherry) Smelley, two sisters Debra (Marty) Caruso and Dianne (Les) Anderson, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend, his dog Al. He is preceded in death by parents E.B. and Nova Dee Smelley and grandson, Aidan Babineaux. He loved people and never met a stranger, but most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed and our world will never be the same without him. There will be a visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a service at 6:00 p.m. Share sympathies, memories, and condolences at www.charletfuneralhome.com.
