Gary Mack "Pete" Smith was born December 11, 1953, to the late John and Louise Smith. Pete accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church by the late Rev. Dell Parker. He transitioned to be with the Lord peacefully on November 30, 2021. He was employed with Bunge Corporation for over 35 years until his retirement at the age of 65. He was a strong, loving, and proud husband, father, and grandfather. He spent his years giving them all with his time and the treasures he was blessed with. Pete spoke of the Lord daily and loved reading his daily devotional with his bible. He was known to be a free spirit, always smiling. Pete is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 41 years, Dorothy. Three daughters Erica (Myles Jr.), Deanna (Johnnie, Jr.), and Katrina (Ernest). His siblings Johnnie, Ann Marie, Ellen, Raymond (Artis), Jean, Mary Ann (Michael), Fredrick (Iris), Audrey (Kenny), 7 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be truly missed by his family and all those who had a chance to know him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 10:00 am until the funeral services to begin for 11:00 am at the Baloney Funeral Home, 1905 W. Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA 70068.
