Gwendolyn Keen Stokes
Gwendolyn Keen Stokes, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 26th 2021 at the age of 77 surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduating from Baton Rouge High School in 1961 she attended cosmetology school and opened her own salon as a hairdresser for 52 years. She was your biggest LSU Tiger fan, despite her husband's love for Ole Miss. She was a longtime member of Zoar Baptist Church. She is survived by the love of her life, Melvin Stokes; daughters, Karyn Neal and husband Craig, Sharyn Allen and husband Tommy; stepdaughter, Sharon Reid and husband Kem; grandchildren, Brandi, Ryan, Brittni, Brooke, Treashur, Alix; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother, Maurice "Scooter" Keen and wife Kay. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry L Keen III; mother, Geneva Arceneaux Shelton; stepfather, Buford Shelton, and brother, Harry L. Keen IV. Family and friends are invited to a visitation Wednesday, September 29th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm followed by a funeral service at Zoar Baptist Church on 11848 Hooper Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70818.
