Helen Marie Bruner died on Monday, January 10, 2022 at her home in Zachary. She was 88 years old. Visitation will be at Zachary United Methodist Church on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 2pm until service at 3pm. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Elmer Gene Bruner. 3 sons, Ronald Bruner and wife, Julia of Lansing, MI, Keith Bruner and wife, Ann of Gonzales and Michael Bruner and wife, Charlotte of Moulton, AL. She is survived by a brother, William Nix and wife, Jean of Sunnyvale, CA. 7 grandchildren, Robyn McBrien, Jeffrey Bruner, Katherine Holland, Daniel Bruner, Michael Bruner, Ryan Louallen and Lee Louallen. 8 great grandchildren, Jackson McBrien, Makyna McBrien, Raymond Bruner, Shayleigh Bruner, Aulton Bruner, Jones Bruner, Art Louallen and Ruby Jane Louallen. Helen is preceded in death by her mother and step father, Ethel L. and Earl T. Wilson and a brother, Thomas Wilson. She was a dedicated member of Zachary United Methodist Church. Helen served as a volunteer on many church committees including Finance, Little School, Newsletter, and Friends and Needles Sewing Group. She also served as a volunteer on Zachary Beautification Committee and Zachary Historical Committee. Helen was a dedicated fourth generation hand quilter. She hand quilted a quilt for each grandchild when they turned 10 years old. Memorial donations may be made to the Helen Bruner Memorial Fund at Zachary United Methodist Church to be used for Children's Christian Education Fund, 4205 Church Street, Zachary, LA 70791.
