Herbert H. "Herb" Wathan, Sr.
Mr. Herbert H. "Herb" Wathan, Sr., age 91, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kathryn Jean Blossman Wathan of Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter, Dawn Morvant and her husband, Kelly of Lafayette, LA; two sons, Herbert Wathan, Jr. and his wife Rencel of Providence Forge, VA, and Eric Wathan of Mandeville, LA; five grandchildren, Jonathan Morvant, Alexander Morvant, Nicolas Wathan, Amelia Wathan and Herbert Wathan, III; and one great granddaughter, Rheese Morvant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward G. Wathan and the former Jeanette Talbot; and one sister, Jean Wathan Current. A native of San Antonio, TX, Mr. Wathan primarily resided in Eunice, LA and Metairie, LA before moving to Baton Rouge in 2006. He was a veteran of military service, serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Wathan also served in the Louisiana Air National Guard from which he retired. Mr. Wathan taught Mathematics at both LSU-Eunice and UNO. He retired from teaching in 1995. Honoring his wishes, Mr. Wathan's body was donated to the LSU School of Medicine for future medical research. A private Memorial service and family celebration will be held at a later date.

Jean, Herbert, Eric & Dawn, Herb's friendship and warmth are some of my earliest and fondest memories. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to you all.
