James Joseph Cedotal, 69, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Belle River passed away on February 11, 2018. James was a loving brother, son, Godfather, uncle and friend to many. Early on he coached baseball but had a love for the fire department. He was a former elevator operator at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, past member of Pierre Part Fire and Rescue, life member of St. Martinville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Sons of American Legion Landry Domingue Post 328. He was also a proud life member of the Belle River Fire Department as a Secretary. He never met a stranger and had the kindest, most soft heart! He is survived by two sisters, Betty Cedotal Gros, and Bernice Cedotal Aucoin (Newton "York" Aucoin); one brother, Emmet J. Cedotal, Jr. (Jean Ann Hardouin); a host of nieces and nephews, Godchild Tammy Cedotal Dudoussat, Emmet Cedotal III, Wiley Gros, Jr., Jimmy Gros, Sr., Shelby and Dina Aucoin, Linda Stohm; ten great nieces and nephews, Joshua, Zachary, Kaleigh, Caleb and Kaitlyn Dudoussat, Brandy Gros, Jimmy Gros, Jr., Trevor and Tyler Aucoin, and Joseph Gros; along with three great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Annette and Emmet Cedotal, Sr.,; Nannie Ezal Marie Gros; grandparents, Dolsilva and Donatile Cedotal, Cecilia Parez Daigle and Eddie Daigle. The pallbearers will be Emmet Cedotal, Jr., Emmet Cedotal III, Wiley Gros, Jr., Jimmy Gros, Sr., Shelby Aucoin, Jr., and Trevor Aucoin. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Aucoin. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. To continue on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian burial for 2:00 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part. Father Al Davidson will be officiating.
