John Collins III
1952 - 2021
John 'June' Collins III, affectionately known as Poppa, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family on August 9, 2021. June was born on September 25, 1952 in Clinton, Louisiana. He attended Capitol High School and pursued a career as a professional trucker. Poppa enjoyed hunting, playing chess, and fishing. His favorite above all was the game of Domino which he played on Sundays with his 'Domino Brothers'. Poppa could always be found at the sporting events of his children and grandchildren cheering them on. He spent time volunteering at Glen Oaks High School as a part of the Security Dad program. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to GOHS Security Dads, C/O Tommie Stout, 7839 Oak Arbor Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70812. Public viewing will be held at Belfair Baptist Church from 9-10 a.m. followed by a private service.
