Mary Jean Simoneaux was born on November 23, 1947 and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 4, 2021 at the age of 73 years old. She was a native and resident of Hester, LA. Jean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed serving her God and church. She worked as a teacher's aide in the St. James Parish School System where she appreciated the joys of helping children. Jean served as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minster at St. Michael's Church. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Michael's Alter Society and Catholic Daughters CDA Court of St. Michael #2080. Jean loved to cook and make fig cookies, especially for the annual preparation and display of the St. Joseph Alter with her friends and family. Jean is survived by her son, Larry Simoneaux, Jr.; grandsons, Larry "Trey" and Billy Simoneaux; siblings, Joseph Accardo, Jr. (Catherine), Tillie Catoire (Dorrel) and Susie Gravois (Bobby); brothers-in-law, Lloyd Simoneaux (Ransome), Milton Simoneaux (Betty), and Kenneth Simoneaux (Marilyn); sisters-in-law, Gerry Faucheaux (Weff), Beverly Louque (Alvin), Joyce Smith, and Odelia Simoneaux; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Simoneaux Sr.; parents, Joseph Accardo and Louise Roccaforte Accardo; father-in-law and mother-in law, Frank Alberic and Elise Simoneaux; and brother-in-law, Bruce Simoneaux. A visitation will be held in the cafetorium of St. Peter Chanel School in Paulina, LA on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery in Convent, LA. Special thanks to Joyce Smith for her loving care until the very end.
