Melvin Joseph Seneca, Sr. passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Pointe Coupee General Hospital at the age of 90. He was a native of Bayou Chene, longtime resident of Bayou Sorrel and current resident of New Roads. He was an Army Veteran. Melvin was a retired crane operator who traveled abroad as a construction worker; he worked with Ingram Contractors to build the first platform in Australia for gas and oil drilling in 1967. He also worked and retired as a security guard at eh Bayou Sorrel Boat Ramp with the Iberville Parish Sheriff Department. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Saturday, November 27, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Pastor Mary Bell Williams. Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Park. Melvin is survived by his daughter, Molly Seneca Bello and husband Joseph "Roy" Bello Jr.; four grandchildren, Toni Richard Cashio and husband Branton, Leo Paul Richard III and wife Tonya, Jennifer Bello Vosburg and husband Michael, Jeremy Bello and wife Virginia; 12 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Evan, Logan, Noah and Paige Richard, Caroline and Hunter Cashio, Aiden, Emma and Julia Vosburg, Easton and Jayse Bello; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Seneca Williams, Mary Jane Seneca LeJeune, Jenny Seneca Andre; former spouse, Margaret S. Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death his two sons, Melvin Jr "Juni-Boy" and Tommy Joe Seneca; infant grandson, Brandon Bello; parents, Carbet and Alberta Diamond Seneca; four siblings, Mildred, Gertrude and Charles Seneca, Vivian Seneca Olano. Melvin was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Pallbearers will be Leo Richard III, Clint and Kiley Persick, Lane LoBue, Kerry Seneca and Jamie Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Williams, Ricky Andre, Andy, Timmy and Todd LeJeune, Howard Stone. Special thanks and gratitude to Pointe Coupee Hospice and all the nursing staff at Pointe Coupee General Hospital for the upmost special care, and also to Chantelle, Tabitha, Tiffany, Tina and Susan of Pointe Coupee Healthcare Nursing Home.
