Drena, Jessica & Family,

I was truly saddened by the sudden death of Rocky. I always admired his love for you, Jessica and especially Peyton. Rocky was the kind of person you always enjoyed being around whether he knew you or not, his kindness would shine like at the LSU games when he would always try to get us to try your cooking. You do not understand why God has taken Rocky from you so soon, but through family and friends you will find strength to go on. May God walk you through this time and heal your pain. God Bless you and your entire family.

This poem was written by Debra Francise in hopes to bring comfort to the Ourso family in their time of sorrow

On June 27th, 2006 God called out to his son, come home now, your work on earth is done. Come home with me, I will let you see all the glorious deeds you did for me. You never failed me in what I asked you to do. You never questioned why, you always saw them through. You are the best son a Father could ask for. You never complained, even when I would send you more. This is why I chose you today. Come home and rest with me, someone else will show them the way.

To the Ourso family,

My deepest condolences on the loss of Rocky. He was a sincere, caring and compassionate man. As a fellow Parish Councilman, I enjoyed talking politics with Rocky the last several years.

However, it is through softball that I met Rocky and truly got to know him, first as a foe and later as a teammate. Rocky was a warrior and a competitor, as all the Ourso's are. Rocky was fun to be around and cared greatly for his teammates. I am so glad I got to see Rocky in Pigeon just a few week ago. On behalf of the brotherhood of old softballers, I say, "We will miss you. May God Bless Rocky and all of his family and friends."

Rocky was someone who could always find the best in others and who could always take time to reach out and help without a thought of praise. My memories go back to when I was cafeteria manager at OLPS when Jessica was there; then when I was secretary/bookkeeper for the farmers at W.C. Co-op; now I'm Secretary at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Donaldsonville. Rocky left this world a better place simply by being a part of it. He will truly be missed by MANY! He was so involved in so many things--may all of you find comfort and peace knowing how many people he has touched and how much he has made a differnce! May the love of God and the hand of friendship comfort you in your time of loss. United with you in prayer and love.

Words alone are not enough to express how much we all have lost. A remarkable man who touched the lives of many with kindness, compassion, and a love of family that some can only dream of. Shifting of the Sun

In Memory of Milton “Rocky” Ourso, Jr.

1954-2006

When your Son dies, says his Father…

you lose your umbrella against bad weather.

May his sun be our light, for all tomorrow’s.

When your Brother dies, says his Siblings…

you sink a foot deeper into the earth.

May we inherit his strength.

When your Husband dies, says his Wife…

you inherit the promises he has made

to those people, who were closest to his heart.

May I live to fulfill those promises and remember

his compassion and love for others.

When your Father dies, says his Daughter…

your sun shifts forever. .. for he takes

your childhood with him.

May I and my children… inherit his memories.

When my Son dies, says his Mother…

I will be reunited with him once more and shall be given the honor… to escort him through the gates of heaven.

May those of you left behind…

remember to keep his legacy alive.
