Numa L. Loupe, a native of Opelousas, LA and a life-long resident of New Roads, LA, died January 7, 2022, at Lacour House Assisted Living Facility. He was 96. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was in the US Army, enlisting in March 1944 and honorably discharged in 1946. After his military service, he worked for many years for the Farmers Home Administration and then the Bank of New Roads. He retired in 1988. An informal visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 1:00 pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 pm at St. Francis Chapel, 10364 Pointe Coupee Road, New Roads, LA 70760, with the Rev. Chris Decker, celebrant. Following the Mass, interment will be in False River Memorial Park at 2050 False River Road in New Roads, under the direction of Niland Funeral Home, 210 W. End Drive, New Roads, LA 70760. Preceded in death by his father, Numa E. Loupe, by his mother Mae Louise Mix Loupe, twin sister, Irma Mae Loupe Smith and brother-in-law Justin W. Smith, Sr. Survivors include two nieces, Janet Smith Rapp and her husband Steve, of Dallas, Tx, Sylvia Smith Gerace of Baton Rouge; two nephews, Justin W. Smith Jr. and his wife Barbara of Sulphur, and Glenn G. Smith, Sr. and his wife Deborah, of Baton Rouge; nine great nieces and nephews, Karen Smith, Glenn G. Smith, Jr. and Sarah Smith all of Houston, TX and Kelly Smith, Amy Smith Lejeune, Claire Smith, Adam Gerace, Bryan Gerace and Stephen Gerace, all of Baton Rouge and by numerous great-grand nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Glenn Smith, Jr., Adam Gerace, Bryan Gerace, Stephen Gerace, Steve Rapp and Daniel Lejeune. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Congregation of St. Mary's Catholic Church, 348 W. Main St., New Roads, LA 70760 or to Congregation of St. Joseph Mission Advancement Office, 3134 Hundred Oaks Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70808. The family would like to thank his caregivers at Lacour House Assisted Living and Pointe Coupee Hospice.
