O'Neil John Babin, Jr. "Zeke" passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the Baton Rouge General on Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge, at the age of 92. He was a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grosse Tete. Zeke loved fishing, watching Notre Dame football and could never pass up a good argument. He was a longtime resident of Grosse Tete where he raised a large loving and loud family with the love of his life Mary Mae Angelloz Babin who preceded him in death after 51 years of marriage. Also preceded in death by his parents, O'Neil John Sr. and Corinne Truxillo Babin; sister, Sue and Edward "Coco" Angelloz; brother-in-law, Adrian "Ace" Landry; son-in-law, Lional Ezell; grandson-in-law, Frank Carmena Jr.; and great-grandson, John Nathan Carmena. He is survived by his sister, Corinne "Tutty" Landry; 7 children, Sandra Shaw (Steve), O'Neil "Skeet" John Babin III (Lee), Anita Charleville (Donald), Patricia Ezell, Becky Hebert (Barry), David Babin, Patrick Babin (Kris), 15 grandchildren, Lisa Carmena, Dane Babin (Trudy), Tara Elliott (Chris), Leslie Charleville, Jonathan Charleville (Tara), Michael Ezell (Theresa), Andrea Roddy (Jordan), Allison Hebert, Katie Hebert, Jodey Hebert (Ashley), Christy Babin, David Babin Jr, Zackary Clement, Patrick Babin Jr, Charles O'Neil Babin; 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Zeke will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His life was full of love and family. Go Irish! A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grosse Tete, 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Amrit Raj. Burial of ashes will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Maintenance Fund.
