Ronald Bruce Kennedy entered eternal rest, Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the age of 73. He was a retired Professor in the Visual Arts Department at Southeastern LA University, Hammond, LA. He was a graduate of the Southern University Laboratory High School, Class of 1965. He attended Southern University and A&M College where he received the Bachelor of Science in Art Education. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. After military service, he returned to Baton Rouge, attended Louisiana State University, where he received the Master of Fine Arts. Ronald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen Butler Kennedy; his sons Dr. Rahni Bruce Kennedy of Garland, TX and Rajah Brady Kennedy and wife Jennifer Thomas Kennedy of Spencer, OK; grandson, Brayden Bruce Kennedy; sister, Theresa Jackson of Gautier, MS; three sisters-in-law; four nieces; three nephews; a great niece; a great nephew, and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Brady Bruce and Irene Christy Kennedy; twin brothers, Osborn and Olin Kennedy, and sister Sandra Kennedy. Ronald was a member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Chorus and used his artistic skills to enhance programs of the church. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated-Xi Nu Lambda Chapter, The National Alliance of Artists from HBCUs, and The Mississippi Poplar Hill Hunting Club. Ronald loved to paint, hunt, fish and he dearly loved his sons and his grandson. His time with friends was truly special and he always looked forward to sharing with them. He will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. Viewing will be at Camphor Memorial UMC, 8742 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, December 18 at 11 a.m. until the religious service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor K.C. Roberson, officiating. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Omega Service will be conducted at 12 noon. Interment Southern Memorial Gardens, 3012 Blount Road, Baton Rouge, LA.
