Russell Frazier Obituary

Russell Alan Frazier, beloved son, father, grandson, nephew and friend, unexpectedly passed away on February 15, 2023. He was born on May 23, 1984, in Baton Rouge, and was 38 years old. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Vernette Coleman Frazier and his paternal grandparents, Nolan Royce Hinson and Mary Addie Hinson. He is survived by his parents, Linda Frazier Carter (Aubrey) and Roger Alan Hinson (Janice), his children, Bailey and Landon, and their mother, Theresa McDonald, his Aunt Wanda Frazier Meinschein (Mark), cousin Amanda Meinschein, Aunts and Uncles in Tennessee, his Great Aunt Shirley Mobley and many cousins. Russ was a swimming pool technician who longed for the big water. When he wasn't working, he loved deep water fishing, hiking in the Smokies, and spending time at the beach or at amusements parks with Bailey and Landon, whom he loved very much and were the apple of his eye. Russ, Bailey and Landon liked to play basketball, video games, and watch movies together. He was a great cook and his children have fond memories of creating big messes in the kitchen as they made chicken and dumplings on cold nights or breakfast together on lazy Sunday mornings. He was a life-long LSU Tigers fan and a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. Russ enjoyed watching sports with his kids. He also loved animals, especially his beloved dogs, reptiles, bunny and multiple cats over the years. He loved gardening and was always interested in having unusual cactus and succulents. Russ was gregarious and had many friends who walked with him along the way, many of whom stretched all the way back to University Methodist Preschool, Walnut Hills Elementary School, McKinley Middle Magnet, Redemptorist and Lee High School. Russ was loved by many people. He and his friends loved paint ball, skate boarding and occasionally slipping out on Thursday nights to "study" at Tabby Thomas's Blues Club. He loved dancing and dancing with Bailey and Landon. Russ and his friends enjoyed watching sports or just being there for each other as they navigated through life. Russell loved life, his family, and his friends very much, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Donations may be made in his honor to the Baton Rouge Children's Advocacy Center, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, the Companion Animal Alliance, or a charity of your choice. Russ will rest next to his maternal grandparents at the family gravesite at the Natchez City Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held March 2, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Beauvoir Park.
