Selma Marie Berthelot joined her husband of 71 years in eternal life on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the age of 89, surrounded by her nieces. She was a native and lifelong resident of Bayou Pigeon. Selma was a homemaker and faithful member of the Catholic Church. She birthed no children of her own but she had many nieces and nephews that loved her like a mother. Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Saturday, October 9th, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Matthew Dunn. Selma is survived by her nieces and nephew, Gayle Breaux and husband Floyd Jr., Carolyn Landry and husband Wayne, Rodney Berthelot and wife Holly; great nieces and nephews, Erika Guerin, Brandi Landry-Ramagos and wife Michele, Trevor Landry and wife Megan, Jarred Berthelot wife Tori, Jacelyn Berthelot; great-great nieces and nephews, Grant and Kenleigh Guerin, Drake Lemmler and Kendall Gallagher, Mason, Hadlee and Hazleigh Landry, Myles, Bailey and Shelby Berthelot; one great-great-great nephew, Luke Lemmler; and fur baby, Toby. Selma was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Jessie "J.C." Berthelot; parents, Paul and Cerelia "YaYa" Templet Berthelot; two siblings, Alma Templet and Hadley "Shoo" Berthelot; great niece, Krissie Berthelot. Pallbearers will be Jarred Berthelot, Trevor Landry, Drake Lemmler, Mason Landry, Grant Guerin, and Trent Templet.
