Seth Thompson Obituary

Seth Robert Thompson passed away Sunday, July 4, at the age of 31. He died as a result of the Heidi Manor fire in Portland, Oregon. Though he left this world far too soon, he lived a full life and left his mark on all who knew and loved him. Seth was an adventurous soul, always seeking out his own path. Using the Reddit community as his guide, he hitchhiked across the US three times, using the brand "Hitchbro." In 2015 Seth ventured to the Snowmass Ski Resort in Aspen, Co, working as a resort host. The following year, a group of his friends joined him in Aspen, and in 2018 they moved together to Oregon. These talented friends collaborated on several projects, including co-hosting a successful literary Podcast, tReading the Path of Heaven, and creating a virtual reality golf game. He was a compassionate soul, always finding a way to reach out to others, and many have reached out to share their stories and the impact he made upon their lives. Seth always embraced life and enhanced every moment with humor, cooking, mahjong, electronic games, and unique art. His most recent hobby was CNC woodworking. Seth found his home and happy place in Portland, Oregon, where he grew his career with companies Juno and Acquai, becoming a valued team leader in both corporations. In Portland, he met the love of his life, Kelsi Edmonds, who put the sparkle in his blue eyes; please pray for her recovery as she was also injured in the fire. Super smart, wickedly funny, he could hold a conversation on almost any topic with knowledge beyond his years. Seth had a light inside him that allowed him to engage and connect with people and made lasting friendships along his journey. He is survived by his parents, Steve Thompson of Baton Rouge and Linda Stricker of Marietta, GA, and both his grandmothers. He is preceded in death by both grandfathers. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cypress Springs Prayer Center on August 19, at 4:30-6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to American Burn Association or your local burn charity.
