Givens, Thelma Robinson A retired food service technician, she died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 79 and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Winnfield Funeral Home on Friday, April 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Religious service at Fourth District Missionary Baptist Church, 7513 Prescott Road, on Saturday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Donald Turner Sr. Interment in Stockade Cemetery. She is survived by her six caring and devoted daughters, Marjorie Givens, Thelma Webb, Sandra Costello, Connie Hatch, Phyllis Davis and Tonya Givens, all of Baton Rouge; three sons, Darryl Givens and Antonio Givens, both of Baton Rouge, and Louis Givens Jr. and spouse Vera of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Naomi Grant and spouse Willie and Evelyn R. Chaney, all of Baton Rouge, and Gladys R. Chaney of Los Angeles; brother, Vance Robinson of Baton Rouge; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mannie and Jessie Robinson; husband, the Rev. Louis Givens Sr.; son-in-law, Ivy R. Hatch; two nephews and a great-nephew. She was a 1946 graduate of McKinley High School, attended Southern University and was retired from Robert E. Lee High School. She was a member of Ruth 6869, the Allendale Community Organization and a committee member of a prayer group.
