Thomas Kennedy Henry
Thomas Kennedy "Tommy" Henry, age 84, passed away at home unexpectedly November 26, 2021. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, January 8 at 1 p.m. at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge. Tommy graduated from Bolton High School, 1955; Northwestern State University, 1959 and 1963; and LSU, 1976. From 1960-62 he served in the Army Military Police and earned the rank of Captain. He taught and coached multiple sports at Bossier High School 1963-75 and was a graduate assistant baseball coach for LSU 1975-76. He spent the next 31 years with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association - the last 24 as Commissioner. He is survived by his wife Mildred Ann; daughter Milette Coles and husband Al; son Ty Henry and wife Sherri; grandchildren Aubrey Gathright, Hayden Henry, Hayes Henry, Andrea Coles, Alison Coles; sister Linda Morris and husband John; nephews Lanny Morris, Jonathan Morris; niece Cheri Minckler. He was preceded in death by parents Aubrey and Virgie Henry and sister Jackie Traylor. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches (lasportshall.com) and University Baptist Church.
